Woman Journalist's Breathtaking Experiences in War Torn Afghanistan

Jan Goodwin, an award-winning American journalist, entered Afghanistan during the war there against the Soviet Union and, in defiance of a Soviet threat to kill the next foreign journalist found with the mujahideen, spent three months disguised as a guerrilla in the war zones. As she travelled on foot, by mule and by jeep, her strength and nerves were tested to the limit. She saw green valleys reduced to scorched earth; she met children maimed by "butterfly bombs"; and she interviewed women guerrillas active in Soviet-controlled Kabul. This is Goodwin's account those experiences.
